Title: ENTANGLED HEAD: LAYERED
Medium: BRONZE & VARIOUS STONE
Unframed: 67 x 31 x 19 cm
It the sculpture, Entangled Head: Layered, the concepts Taylor has been working with over the last decade can clearly be observed. Reference to the male figure as well as stone, the material that became central to unlock the spiritual and metaphorical meaning of Taylor’s work, has been crystalized in a delicately finished piece.
According to Freschi (2020:1) in an article titled, The Fragility of Objecthood, “the power of Taylor’s Momentary Permanence lies in the subtle dialogue that it proposes between the figurative and the metaphorical, the material and the spiritual, the id and the super-ego. As objects the sculptures are impressive and unavoidable, yet although their literalness invites identification, they resist glib interpretation.”
