Angus Taylor is known for referencing Greek mythology in his work. In the sculpture, Co-Presence #2 (Apollo and Dionysus), this reference has been given in the title as a clue to unlock the meaning of the artwork. Apollo and Dionysus were the two sons of Zeus. Apollo was the god of light, reason, harmony, balance, and prophesy, while Dionysus was the god of wine, revelry, ecstatic emotion, and tragedy. In the sculpture this famous dichotomy found within all of us are represented in the form of a figure. Apollo and Dionysus are opposites, yet they are inseparable. They both represent the inevitable duality that is present in the world (Devi 2020:1).
