The sculpture, A Large Head, is a wooden sculpture finished with a copper oxide patina to mimic a bronze artwork. The first owner acquired the work in December 1993 from Lucas Sithole in Pongola who was then sick. The sculpture was unfinished and was the last work made by Sithole. He died from cancer in Jozini in May, 1994 (Haenggi F.F. 2017:1)
His sculptural style drew from classical African art, and his choice of medium echoed his beliefs as a Swazi. It was an intuitive exploration of the subject and the material, seen as a spiritual and living entity.
